To provide safety
to the community while ensuring offender accountability and
rehabilitation
The Community Corrections Program is
an alternative to incarceration that provides probation
supervision for non-violent offenders. The program
provides probation supervision for General District Court
offenders/defendants and adult offenders/defendants from
Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Community
Corrections performs drug screens on offenders. Referrals
are made for counseling for substance abuse, mental health, drug
education programs, anger management and batterer's intervention
groups, sex offender treatment and GED classes.
Restitution for victims is monitored and community service is
monitored for court costs, fines and sentences.

service in lieu of paying fines and costs. It also
provides offenders the opportunity to perform court
ordered sentences of community service. Community service
consists of a variety of services performed at approximately 100
non-profit work sites throughout the county. Examples of
community service would be parks and recreation, libraries, town
road crews, transfer stations and SVCC.
During the last year, the Community Sentencing Program worked
with 406 offenders performing 10,336 hours of community service
for a value of $53,229.11.
